Lost broadband connection- flashing orange face of doom. Please help!

      Hi everyone,

So it all started when we were disconnected after a none payment, we all know this feeling after Christmas right? So literally hours after being cut off I, the daughter, paid it off to save us all the hassle of no sky/internet.

The sky tv came back on but after hours of waiting, the internet didn't. The "smiley face", on the hub, is intermittently flashing orange. We have been on the phone to "support" over the past two days, a few times, to no avail. We've been through the whole jargon and have done what they've asked, all except change the microfilter... So apparently they can't escalate the problem? They've not been very helpful but from what I've read on here, that's to be expected.

Now when we rang up to pay the bill, my mum wanted to cancel, so she got roped into a better deal and upgrading to fibre... They have assured us that this disconnection is nothing to do with upgrading as it's not happening yet and it'll be a swift pass over. Also the phone line, according to them, is working.

I have logged into the router, changed the channel and unticked the suggested boxes. The modem status still says disconnected and the flashing orange face is still mocking me.

Does anybody have any suggestions as to what to do? Im really at a loss with it all, especially with the fact that it's worked perfectly for years until being disconnected by sky this week.

Sorry for the essay. Any help/suggestions will be greatly appreciated

have connected a telephone if is working ok but if no dial tone then is telephone fault even if line test is passing usually when non payment line gets restricted so router light will go to solid amber and when restriction removed back to green/white
flashing orange indicates loss of signal have seen this happen when there has been underlying fault on the line usually filter but again whats is quality of your phone signal any noise ie crackling ,hissing low volume?
