      I did do that. The only device on the circuit was the router. No Phones, No Extension and No Cable run to loft.

      Anyway I had the BY engineer out today who checked the circuit as it stood and he could not find any faults on the line. He then went directly into the cable with his JDSU and confirmed the max speeds as my table above.

      He then done some further tests and said he would reset the line. Then assembled everything back together and punched down my cat 6 cable to the loft. Ran up the router and now we have

      Upstream Downstream
      Current Rate (Kbps) 9995 39993
      Max Rate (Kbps) 15507 54338
      SNR Margin (dB) 10.1 10.8
      Line Attenuation (dB) 24.4 20.6
      Errors (Pkts) 0 0

      The BT enginner was happy with these speeds and advised this is what I should be getting. He double checked my cat 6 run to the loft and advised the cable was good quality. Speed test shows a nice constant 37mb with 17ms ping rate.

      Looks like it was just needing the line reset

      Glad you managed to get a dlm reset

      now you just have to hope it was being capped due to reboots rather than line problems

      the engineer seems to have cleaned up your internal wiring a touch
      but its still worse than it would be straight off the master

      with regards to the old stats being direct into the master with nothing connected
      sadly your wrong there

      a directly wired modem into a test socket will never perform worse snr/attainable
      compared to one on a long extension

      bt should really charge you 175 for that callout as its your internal problems that caused dlm to slow you down
