      daft question (possibly)

i ordered sky broadband last week but haven't recieved my equipment yet however yesterday i noticed something odd with my phone line - instead of a continuous dial tone it is now a broken tone

i can still dial out and receive calls so i wondered if this is anything to do with sky/bt activating the line?

Stutter dial tone is usually associated with network services (aka Select Services).

Call Minder - stutter dial tone indicates you have new messages waiting. Dial 1571 to hear them.

Call Diversion - stutter dial tone is to remind you that you have an active call diversion. Dial #002# to cancel any active diverts.

More likely there is a message left for you on the 1571 service.

sounds a bit like a 1571 BT message alert?
