      CHanging to sky broadband?

Currently im with Telewest and have been for the past 5 years.

I'm on the 10mb package and pay just over 30. I currently have Sky TV and was looking to swopping to the MAX package for 10 a month which gives "upto" 16mb download speeds.

What are peoples views on sky broadband im talking from people who actually have it installed? Are you happy with it?

Has it stayed on and been reliable so far etc?

A hard question to answer, there are a lot of happy people and a lot of unhappy ones as well.

Most people imho who have it would be happy, and as soon as they get their support sorted out, things have got to be better. Most of the staff on here have Sky bb and very rarely report any problems. However we do acknowledge this is not the case for everyone.

My advice would be to try it, you have 8 days to cancel once you are connected and so you have a getout clause.

SO is there a minimum signup period?

Something that concerns me is this issue with noise on the line. At the moment we only have one BT socket in the house for the phone.

With Sky BB i presume i fit a two way connector somewhere along the line for the Wireless modem??

AM i going to have connection issues because of noise given i only have one BT socket in the house?

      Mininum signup - 12 months

As for the noise issues - thats hard to say without you actually trying to connect.

Why not give them a ring and saying you are looking at changing and see if they can give you an indication to what speeds you can expect.

microfilters help remove noise on your phone and stablise connection a bit when the phone is in use,

im on the MAX package and getting 3360Kbps down and 768Kbps up
before i was on F2s and could only get 1.2Mb ish but i am 2.48Km from the exchange

      The_One.

To give you another opinion I would tell you to ask yourself the following questions.

      1. I have a 10mb service at present which is totally trouble free but I resent paying 30 for it.

      2. I am prepared to risk losing this service & spend upto 8 weeks maybe more without broadband.

If you can (hand on heart) answer yes to both of the above questions then go for it mate. However if you rely on having a BB service & can't risk losing that service for any length of time then stop as you are for now

My own personal recommendation would be to wait 6 to 12 months to let Sky get a real grip of things then go for it.

I only wish that hindsight had made me ask myself the above questions as I would still be a satisfied Demon customer paying 20 for a rock solid 2mb service.

Whichever you choose, I wish you good luck
