How: One of the guys on the forum (sorry - can't find the post) has had a fairly good look through the firmware and is of the opinion that it periodically "phones home" to look for an update. If I recall correctly he said the server address isn't currently valid/responding.

IF: As the feature appears to be there one might guess that there's a plan to use it.

      When: Who knows?

Sky Tier 3 have confirmed that there will be upgrades, "as & when required".
