If newly connected do you need the disk

My father in law has required BT to sort out a DACS issue prior to connection. When the router was installed no discs were left by the engineers. He has now had a phone call from Sky to say that problems have now been solved. I suspect that the magical light will now be lit. Please can anyone advise as to whether I can set his internet manually or will I have to wait for the disc - I am slightly "concerned" as Sky have been asked twice on the phone. Are there any manual instructions/guide anywhere. Thanks.

      The Disc?

The disc only has a branded version of internet explorer and McAfee on it!

You dont need the disc or manuals really! Its pretty simple!

Just plug all the wires up and then connect the ethernet cable up!

There may be one other litle thing.

If the above doesn't just work, try this.

Right clich "My Network Places" and select properties.
Right click the ethernet card and select properties on that too.
Find TCP/IP in the list box and Guess what... open the properties on that too.
Check that "Obtain An Ip Address Automatically" is checked.
Check that "Obtain DNS Server Address automatically" is also checked.
OK everything (some ok's take a few seconds) and it should start working.
