Question Am I heading for trouble?!!

      The story so far....

Tempted by price and speed to move from 2Gb Pipex (24.99/m) to Sky Max.

October 27th: Phoned Pipex and asked for MAC code. Sent by e-mail about 7 hours later!

October 31st: Called Sky and signed up for Max package. Told that router would be with me in 5-14 days.

November 3rd: Missed a delivery from ParceLine - could it be the router has arrived early? It's all going too well!

      But then....

Check my BT account and find that there are 3 orders on my line! The expected 2 from Sky placed on October 31st, but another placed on October 19th!

Turns out that it's from Pipex as they're "upgrading" at my exchange to LLU. Funny, nobody mentioned that when I phoned for my MAC code....

According to BT, the Pipex LLU order is due to happen on November 8th. The Sky LLU order is due to happen on November 9th.

So...is the Pipex order going to cause problems with the Sky order?

I thought it might do, so I called Pipex to talk it over. It was all a bit vague - at first I was put on hold and then told that I had to make sure that the Sky upgrade happened before the Pipex one, but I replied that it was out of my hands and the dates have been set. Back on hold again - they couldn't get in touch with the right person at that time, but apparently someone called Tom has been sent an e-mail and will make sure their order is cancelled.

Am I confident it will happen in time? Nope!

I've e-mailed Pipex TS (48 working hours response) and Customer Service (7 7 day response!) so my request is definitely registered, and I've e-mailed BT to ask if I can cancel it as I'm the account owner.

So, 2 questions: Is the "double order" likely to cause problems? And does anyone know which department in Pipex I should call, and do you have a phone number?

Answers on a postcard to the usual address....

Of course, I'm about to head into 2 months of no internet access so I won't be able to track this thread...

BT will not cancel anything Broadband related unless you are the ISP.

      try not to get confused?

there are two parts to BT?

      1. The ISP and Phone Service Provider
      2. The people doing lines and exchanges?

The orders on your line can only be cancelled through BT-OpenReach who donot speak to the public?
So you WILL have to go through your ISP

Also its usually better phoning them, You get a faster responce?

OK, the BT thing was really just to make sure all possibilities were explored.

      So....back to my original question:

Is the double order going to cause problems?

      Cheers!

Two letters from Sky turned up today, as well as my "Super-fast Internet" (!) router.

Spoke to a very friendly chap at Pipex and he assures me that the handover will be OK.

      So that's OK then!

When is your estimated activation date!

I use the word estimated! Because it seems now that alot of customers get connected weeks even months after their activation date!

Well the letter says that the line should be active on the 9th, but I should allow an extra 3 days from that date as there's been a lot of demand for Sky BB.

That date ties in with what the BT order tracker says.

      So far....so good....famous last words?!!!

      Well today's the day!

The Pipex LLU order went through OK according to the BT site yesterday.

And today's LLU to Sky has happened already.

Plugged the router in but no green tick so far.

      Maybe later...maybe tomorrow...maybe....

The green tick is just the self test light. The i with a circle wrapped around the bottom of it is the one you're interested in.

And don't believe the BT tracker, it says my "provide llu line share" worked but it didn't.
