Well fiberoptic tried evrything you said. Has not made much difference i am afraid to say. My router is still publishing this,

      ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 8757 kbps 766 kbps
Line Attenuation 32.5 db 18.5 db
Noise Margin 8.6 db 12.5 db

and download speed thing wont work any more. But if i try to downlaod somrthing from a website only get between 3kb to 5kb a second. Also my dad still hasnt heard from Tier 3. Any ideas anyone? Btw i am on the bromley exchange anyone else having problems connected to the same exchange?

If you think you might have noise/interference problems it's the test socket you need to try not the master socket.

,try rebooting your router 2or 3 times [see if your ip address changes ]as u sometimes get a bad pathway and it takes a while to get off it ,have had pretty much same speeds as you sometimes [100kbsupload 300 down]rebooted and it increases amzingly [8-9 meg/500-600 upload]

      Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 7592 kbps 766 kbps

can i assume that the line for my broadband is ok and the problem is with the router and my computer? Or are my stats not good? Also i have read alot about the Upnp thing. If i turned this off would this do anything and if i were to turn it off would i have problems trying to turn it back on again?

That presumably is not with your test socket?

      To recap:

      • You are connecting at ~8000kbps.
      • Your attenuation suggests you should be able to connect at ~15000.
      • The number one reason for this discrepency is noise.
      • Plugging into your test socket will remove local noise interference.
      • Comparing mastersocket to test socket will confirm or disprove (local) noise is the problem.

Your test socket is behind the faceplate of your mastersocket - assuming you have an NTE5 mastersocket.
