      homehub 5a on sky dsl

      Hello every one

New user here. Need some advice please.

I am on skydsl unlimited, with sr101 silver hub.

I have got hold of a homehub 5a, connected it straight to my ADSL filter, telephone liune.
I do get an option of entering a username & password.
However whenever I enter my skydsl username, I end up getting an error saying - username incorrect or not supported.

Has anyone had any experience with this ? Also will I be able to use to homehub 5 as a modem router or should I just use it as a router & sr101 as a modem

      Any advice/help highly appreciated.

      Regards

      Sunil

You will need to be able to enter the login details using 'Opt.#61'.

This is specific to Sky and no other UK ISP to my knowledge uses this.

If the HomeHub has an Ethernet WAN port, connect it to the SR101 and allow the HomeHub to run your LAN. The SR101 will do the authentication.

Otherwise you'll need to piggyback the router on to the SR101, with the SR101 managing your LAN & the connection.

Although you can change username and pass word, the Hub is actually locked to BT and their subsidiaries. You can only piggy-back it, here is quite a good piece by Dave Ludlow discussing this- How to use the BT Home Hub 5 with another ISP | Expert Reviews It is by all accounts a very good router.
