New MAX User, but line limited to 2mb

I have had my SKY broadband connection connected today onto the Max service, which was a migration away from the Pipex 2mb service. I only live about 1km away from the local BT exchange, and checking my line stats it appears I should get a connection of about 8-10mb.

I have extracted the stats from the adslctl program on the router and posted these below. This seem to show the router can negotiate a 8mb+ connection but I am limited to 2mb.

Any advice on the best way to resolve this would be appreciated.
      Thanks

      Dave

      Just a quick update.

Telephone tech support this morning on the 0800 number. And they said that my port was down and there was a problem at the BT exchange, and BT are investigating the issue, and there should be an update tomorrow.

However the guy I spoke to wasn't sure how my DSL line looked like I wasn't connected, when I know that I am.

Looks as though I can't be charged for Broadband then.

Dwoodwar, you need to talk to tier 3, I have posted the freephone number as it will take a while to get through to them. Good Luck.

did the guy at tier1 raise a ticket, if not basicly nothings going to be done, if it showed as port down on swish then the swish tool was playin silly boogers, and will probably work if tried again.

if there is indeed some sort of exchange issue on your dslam card and port then that would explain it, its like a doctor phone and get a second opinion

Thanks for the advice, I have just spoken to sky and this time have a ticket raised, which I was told would go to the tier 3 team. The bad news is that this could be 5 days.

Have checked afriends ADSL router, and on his the Showtime Channel is FAST and the MODE is ADSL2+ rather than what I have as shown below.

Status: Showtime Channel: INTR, Upstream rate = 384 Kbps, Downstream rate = 2048 Kbps
      Link Power State: L0
      Mode: G.DMT

      Thanks

No problem mate as long as the ticket was raised they will take a look into this and get back to you whithing 5 days, the exchange issue may be resolved sooner so just keep checking it.

Have just checked my line stats, and it looks as though my problem has now been resolved. The stats from my router are as follows:

/usr/sbin/adslctl: ADSL driver and PHY status
Status: Showtime Channel: FAST, Upstream rate = 766 Kbps, Downstream rate = 9812 Kbps
      Link Power State: L0
      Mode: ADSL2+
      Channel: Fast
      Trellis: ON
      Line Status: No Defect
      Training Status: Showtime
      Down Up
      SNR (dB): 7.0 8.6
      Attn(dB): 46.5 25.8
      Pwr(dBm): 21.8 0.0
      Max(Kbps): 9908 17556
      Rate (Kbps): 9812 766

Thanks for all your suggestions. The initial call was logged Friday Lunch time and resolved Tuesday Lunchtime, so the turnaround was 4 days, which is within the 5 days that was originally quoted.

      Thanks

      Dave
