      You did not need a MAC as you were moving from an LLU supplier to a BT line. MACs are not used on LLU lines as they cannot be generated by the system, this can only be done on a BT managed line. The OP was on a BT line so could and did receive a MAC. If he had not done so he may have been charged a new connection fee.

      is it because i was still in contract with sky that it was done easier or is there more to it.

      It doesn't make any difference to the procedure. It's just that if you are still in contract you may owe your existing supplier a charge for breaking your contract. I understand that your new supplier is willing to pay this charge but in law the liability remains with you.

      they may do it where my mother pays little more than normally for it dunno like see how it goes, got a email for my new home hub 5 so hopefully it should arrive on the 22nd cant wait hehehe.

      Sky WILL charge your mother the early termination charge.
      BT cannot do anything about this, they might be giving your mother some money off her BT bill to compensate for this though.
