Used to drop out three or four times a day but for the last four days have had a solid connection averaging 12mps... so think the wait was worth it.. perhaps sky have finally sorted themselves out, at least on my exchange...

      to fibreoptic

Checked before I came in to office this morning and

      Line att is 14 / 11.5 Down / Up
Noise is generally around 13-14 Down and 12-13 Up (although the other day the Down noise margin was fluctuating wildly between 28 and 12 according to the 10 second polling on the show stats tab)

gonna give "novelty island" (remember vic reeves?) a call again this morning to find out what their lie of the day is.

Disabling UPNP seems to have stopped the connection dropping, but the speed still isn't good.

Didn't get a chance last night to look at master socket articles, will try that over the weekend.

Took the front plate off the socket and plugged straight into the socket at bottom right, didn't make much difference.

When I reboot the router the speed is good for a while (7-8 meg), nowhere near the 16 meg, but it drops again and web pages become slow again. Any other ideas?

At least the connection dropping problem has stopped.

to everyone who asked, basically if your noise margin is BELOW 6.0 on the downstream then thats pobably the cause of your problems, for a nice connection it should be around 7 or 8, or even 9
