I phoned SKY broadband and ordered max but they done a test with bt and said that BT will only allow me 4 and a half meg through my phoneline.
Its still worth it considering NTL charge 24.99 for 4 meg and its all free activation and installation but it still annoys me abit. They done the test on a BT website, does anyone know the site or a site that will show me the speed that bt will let me have as im not sure if sky are just pulling my plum. Also can i phone BT and pursuade them to up it.

It's not really a question as to how fast BT will 'allow' you to have, it all depends on your phone line quality and mainly how far away you are from your exchange.
      If you go to
      http://www.samknows.com/broadband/checker2.php
and input your phone number and postcode, it should give you an idea how fast you can go and the distance from your exchange.
