      Please Help!

      Hi all,
Been connected to Sky Max for a month now. Sky says I can get 15Meg. I've had lots of issues, but with a lot of adjustments made after reading this Forum, I have at least had a connection.

Now I can't seem to get over 150 Kbps! I have altered the wireless seting to Auto 108, and I have disabled UPnP. I have also used TCPOptimiser. I am also pluged into the master BT socket, but not using a filtered faceplate.

Any sugestions would be greatly appreciated!

With that 15323 downstream connection from the adsl stats, I'd expect a lot more too. How are you measuring it?

There's no "training" with SkyBB Max. It is an ADSL2+ service.

One of the more reliable speedtest sites is

      http://www.speedtest.bbmax.co.uk/

What do you get with this.

Thanx - tried the link for speed test - averaging 450kpbs down & 190 on upload.
I was hoping for faster speeds because BT said I had a great line for broadband.
I can't seem to get any help from Sky BB :-(

Well something is really wrong - but that's no help is it?

All you can do is methodically go through all the various things to find the problem.

Start by connecting to the test socket in your master socket. If no better ....

Then disable any connection controlling software on your PC eg McAfee, Norton, XP firewall, Windows defender - whatever you've got. If no better .....

Borrow someones laptop/PC and see if that gets a better download.

      And so on.

Have you tried tweaking your computer to take advantage of a high speed connection?

Also how to your speeds compare when downloading from an FTP Hosted by A Uni (ftp.mirror.ac.uk) or Telewest (ftp.blueyonder.co.uk)

Also try clearing your cache after speed testing, Also try testing your speeds with files over 50mb+ for a 8mb+ connection!

      Also Welcome to the Site!
