Now I can't get rid of Sky!

After much hassle I've finally cancelled Sky, but BT rang to say Sky's MAC code was unacceptable. They said it was something to do with LLU and that I should phone Ofcom.

      So I did.

      Ofcom said to ring Sky.

So I did. I phone customer service who told me to ring technical support. Technical support were their usual bright and idiotic selves asking me for my postcode for the better part of 4hrs.

So I rang customer service again who put me through to Provisioning who said I needed to ring "08700 248973" for a place called "TURNAROUND" who would know what to do.

      They really didn't.

      What can I do?

I rang Sky last week to get my MAC code to migrate to Zen. Was told it would take 5 days.

Rang today and they have no record of my call. Now been told that I have to write to them and cancel before they can give me a MAC code.

      I'm going nuts !!

@Mr M west, you need to ask sky to place a CEASE order on your line. This clears your line of them completely. Once this is completed you can order from a new provider. This does mean a gap of no service as the new order cannot be taken until the line is clear. You will not need a mac code. The only company I know of who would take an LLU mac are ZEN

I've tried that as well. Sky can't place a cease order with BT because their system throws an error when they click 'ok' in the cancel form.

      So boy am I stuffed.

Correct me if im wrong but isnt a MAC Code for LLU Only? Or if not! Why not just wait for the Order with Sky to cancel!

And for their (SKY) services to be removed from the line and then re-order with BT?

Because, a problem on the Sky cancellation software means that they can't send a cease order to BT!!!

      It's been escalated but .....

ZEN can process LLU MAC's - if u manage to get one out of Sky in the first place !!

This "Letter Cancellation" is a pain for cancelling their TV Services, But never heard of it before for Broadband?

Just tell them that you want to speak to someone Senior e.g. Manager, Supervisor and explain to them that By Law they have to provide you with a MAC Code if not your getting in touch with Ofcom!

      You're lucky!

No-one at Sky knows what a "cease order" is. They just keep blithering on about having "already cancelled your account, I don't see what else we can do".

It's just so painful. I'm in my 3rd month without the internet. I'm losing the will to live! All my finances are with Online banks, both Smile and IF and I can't access them except by phone which is a real pain to do.

Why the heck isn't this more widespread in the general media? Is it because Sky own the news?

Sky should be able to cancle your line, this means they will remove the kit on your number at the exchange and put you back on BT's Kit. If they refuse to do that u can allways request a MAC code and like someone above said transfer over to Zen as they accept LLU Mac codes. however it does mean wating around for another 2-3 weeks.

my line is supposed to be cleared from sky in another 10 days or so. Is there any way I can check if it's clear (some website)? Just in case it clears before the time stated by Sky, hahaha
