Log onto Sky network without sjy equipment

The wonderful people at sky have switched over my line to the Sky connect service. They have done this without sending me the Router! How wonderful.

I have a username and password that they sent me in the post and I also have a spare adsl modem/router. Is it possible to use this equipment to connect onto the network.

I spoke to sky and they said that I needed to use the sky hardware to connect. Problem is i cannot wait the 5-7 days before i get the router!

If i need the sky hardware what authentication methods do they use? Is it something to do with the MAC address of the hardware.

Surely it must be easy enough just to put in my user name and password and connect using my good old trusty modem.

Thanks for the help in advance.

aaaaarrrrggghhh no net for days! What am i going to do.

It's all on the router . The user name is the mac from your router and the pw is random and supplied with the router, I am afraid you will have to wait

The user name and password that you get with your letter is just for skybroadband.com.
I have sold my sold soul and joined SkyBroadband

The same thing happened to me fox1977, my line to their Connect service was activated but I had no router. After contacting Sky they did get their finger out and it turned up two days later. It is annoying that Sky insist that you use their router as I had a perfectly good one sitting here that I couldn't do anything with. Hopefully your missing router will turn up soon.
