One which is capable of using the Wireless AC standard, together with compatible adapters. You will not get much better than the Asus Dual Band Wireless AC1750 Gb router.

Given that these are about 150, is there much improvement on the Sky SR102 router?

I have the Asus RT-N66U and that is a massive improvement on the wireless of the standard SR102.

You should only need to enable UPnP for On Demand to work.

When it was first launched (under the name Anytime+) it was necessary to open some ports with some routers, but the software has improved and this isn't necessary now I believe.

Sky Fibre Unlimited Pro: Connected at 80,000 kbps / 20,000 kbps
Previous ADSL2+ Speed 19999 kbps 1153 kbps, Line Attenuation 17.5 db 6.9 db, Noise Margin 7.5 dB 8.7 dB
      Speedtest: 17.15MB/s 0.97Mb/s Ping 31 ms
