Anyone had problems connecting yesterday ? - lost connection and cant connect - I have had a rock solid connection for a couple of week and yet last week its become unreliable - I have got the green light showing a connection on the router, switched it off/on a couple of times but still no joy ?
Tried to ping www.sky.com with no joy and times out on a trace route .
Anyone else having problems ?

I had my broadband connection switched on last Thursday. Its gone down every day. Exactly the same issue. Green lights showing, my wireless utility states 'all connected' yet nothing. And get this, when I phoned Sky, they stated it could be interferance from my central heating!!
I'm giving them a couple more days and if there's no improvment then I'm going to have to cancel the agreement.

no doubt it is - just funny to hear thats all - I am not a techie at all but it makes me laff to think that the heating system can knock out my broadband connection. @the geek, hows it work ? - I am curious now !!!

basicly the electronic timer causes it disconect when it fires up the boiler as far as im aware lol.
also radiators seem to absorb more the signal when there on with the water flowing through them, seems random probably is but somehow it does it

Yesterday (Sunday 29th Oct) I was having a lot of problems with the connection dropping and the Internet light on the router going out. Up till now (I've been connected for about 10 weeks) it's been absolutely rock solid. So I spent a fair bit of time swapping DSL filters, reverting the router to factory settings, and various combinations of reboot and power cycling. Once or twice the connection came up following a router power cycle, but would drop after a few minutes.
I eventually resorted to calling Sky technical support. An irish guy told me there was a problem with BT in East Midlands but nothing reported in the South West, and to call back if the problem persisted. About 7 pm yesterday I phoned again, and this time got through to a lady with a chinese accent (who sounded as though she was in the middle of a dinner party judging by the background noise!). Anyway, after taking my details and a short pause, she informed me there was indeed a problem at my local exchange, and it should be resolved by the next day. Fair enough.
I've been using it solidly for the past 3-4 hours now and (touch wood) it seems back to its reliable old self. Incidentally the East Midlands outage was later mentioned on radio 5 news.
