      Connection speed help needed

Hi I am on the Sky BB Max package and after having problems with slow connection speed, around the 6-7 Mb mark I called the technical support. When I signed up to Sky I was told I should get a speed around the 12 Mb mark. My case was referred to tier 3 and I got a callback from them saying that they have capped my line to 7.5 Mb. After reading through some of the threads on here I am convinced I should be getting a higher connection speed than that.
My router is plugged into the master socket and the line stats are:

      ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 7270 kbps 766 kbps
Line Attenuation 34.5 db 20.1 db
Noise Margin 8.1 db 11.0 db

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

As you connect at faster speeds, your SNR will drop. Below 7.0db seems to cause frequent disconnects. You could try plugging into the test socket and disconnecting any extensions to try and improve SNR.

      D'oh! Not good, dude.

I think they are capping everyone, I am capped at 6 meg too, they say after their initial test thats all my cable will take, I know thats wrong as I have had faster from my old ISP.
Connection Speed 6105 kbps 764 kbps
Line Attenuation 35.0 db 20.5 db
Noise Margin 6.8 db 11.5 db

Hmm seems very odd to me the line stats seem to suggest that the line can support a higher speed yet they are relatively low. I too was getting faster on my up to 8meg connection I had previously. Worth kicking up a fuss?
