      IPv6 - SR102 forwarding of protocol 41

Hello, can anyone please tell me whether the SR102 supports IP protocol 41 forwarding e.g. by setting the DMZ, or am I going to have to find another IPv6 tunneling solution?

Migration in a few days and I have the Sky hub now but my service isn't live yet. Looking through the UI, I can only find a way of forwarding TCP and UDP, but not different protocol numbers.

      Cheers.

At the present time no one outside Sky will know the answer to this question and those that do are unlikely to provide the answer.

Sky may already be Beta Testing IPv6 but it is unlikely that they will comment as it would be considered sensitive.

I asked in order to use an existing HE tunnel - was not expecting Sky to provide IPv6. So it was really a question about router functionality. Sorry if I was being unclear. But it is good to hear that they /might/ be testing IPv6!

Do you have a link to a page which discusses this?

When I search for IP Protocol 41 and HE Tunnel, I get results discussing IPv6 each time.

Since Sky's network is only currently working with IPv4, it makes it difficult for me to properly check what you are looking for otherwise.

Technically I can't see why the router would not support it, however I wouldn't count on it and would rather try it.

      Re: IPv6 - SR102 forwarding of protocol 41

OK, the way HE's tunneling works is to use IP protocol 41 to tunnel IPv6 between its IPv4 endpoint and yours. This is "6in4", and a primer is available here (or something a little more vague on Wikipedia).

So, if your home gateway/router isn't one of the endpoints, it needs to be able to forward incoming proto 41 packets to the endpoint. It's similar to setting up a server behind your gateway, except that instead of needing to forward a particular TCP/UDP port, you have to forward a particular IP protocol number. I'm confident the underlying firmware supports it, but it doesn't seem to expose the functionality via the UI.

The GUI is heavily locked down. If you require a specific option to enable it, I doubt that it will be there.

Which firmware version do you have?

      Re: IPv6 - SR102 forwarding of protocol 41

Sorry for delay in responding - is SR102 firmware 2.1m.3173.R. Anyway, Sky broadband now set up, and it seems things work fine. Loses the NAT mapping after a while idle, but that's not unusual and easily dealt with. Cheers.

Look forward to when Sky decides to invest in native IPv6.
