      Non Sky router config

I have my own Netgear DG834GT & have been waiting over 2 weeks for Sky to send me their. How do I set up my router to access SkyBroadband please? The Internet light is lit on the router & when I access the router config page it tells me that I have connection but the LCP cannot initialise & CHAP authentication failed

      thanks

You cannot connect to sky until you get their router

      thanks for the response.

Does that imply that once I have connected with the Sky Router (if it ever arrives) that I can keep my old router as a spare & connect with that in case of problems?

You can use another router to connect to Sky Broadband providing you have your Username & Password!

But using another Router/Modem violates some T&C's!

And another TIP you will not be able to get the password you require for another router to work until you get the SKy Branded Router!

This is because the password is embedded into it!

thanks, i've been on the phone to Sky & they have tried to talk me through setting up access through my own router! They claim the username & password I need is the username & password I use access the Sky website

      http://bband.sky.com/portal/site/sky...c5732314f941ca

They have even sent me a password via post which I have now reset to something more familiar.

I take it i'm wasting my time until the router arrives?

I dont know where they got that from. Having viewed my own password on my router I can categorically state it bears no relation to the log in I have for my email.
