Wireless Adaptor Help!!!
I have tried all sorts of configurations, letting Windows configure the adaptor card or letting its own software do it. I have also changed the security settings on both the card and the Sky router. Basically the problem is my laptop shows it has picked up the signal then it drops off again after 3-4 seconds then picks it up again. If I am in the same room as the Sky router then no problem but move into the next room and no luck. I have tried unplugging cordless phones etc but this makes no difference. The Sky router is sitting ontop of my monitor. I have wasted nearly 2 hours on the phone to Sky tech help and they just have you going round in circles. Why cant they just give a step by step guide to setting up additional computors onto the wireless network.
I left TalkTalk for this and I cannot even change my sign on password or add additional email accounts for the family.
Can anyone help please

Unless you have a particularly thick wall between the rooms it sound like something is broken. Was your previous router or access point better?

This your own wireless card and not the sky usb dongle? , try changing security to disabled and using the mac as security and remove the router from on top of your monitor.

I have set the security at disable and it works fine. Sounds a silly question but what did you mean by set the security at the mac? Can my neighbours get access to my wireless network whilst the security is set at disabled?

Setting the security as open isnt safe at all, Not only letting your neigbours use your wireless, But opening your computer to hackers and any online shopping you may do will be unsecured meaning people from the road could access you Card Number etc etc!

Hence why I said enable mac address as security, unless they have your mac code they aint getting on your router, or if you wish set it to wep make a key then connect to your network its your choice.
