      Ping and throughput issues

      Hi, so the past day or so I've noticed our internet to be quite slow, which isn't usually the case. The ping monitor is extremely busy which isn't normal

      and also the throughput has gone from 12.7Mbps down, 1Mbps up to this

      Speedtest.net by Ookla - My Results

      Our ping is usually 16ms.

      Here's my line stats

      Broadband Link Downstream Upstream
      Connection Speed 15400 kbps 1160 kbps
      Line Attenuation 26.5 dB 14.7 dB
      Noise Margin 6.1 dB 8.8 dB

      Exchange is EMBOSTO and a fibre cabinet is due to be put up in the next week or so, but work hasn't started yet.

      Anyone care to help? It's the same thing in the test socket.

      So I rang up Sky telling them about it (and also mentioning that I got 17Mbps on DLM with a 3dB noise margin) and she somehow managed to set my Noise Margin to 3dB?! I thought this could only be done by DLM?

      Here are my new stats

      Broadband Link Downstream Upstream
      Connection Speed 16538 kbps 1212 kbps
      Line Attenuation 26.5 dB 14.6 dB
      Noise Margin 3.0 dB 9.9 dB

      Ping has gone from 16ms to 25ms but she ran DLM again so hopefully that'll sort itself out again.

      Ping monitor is still being crazy :/

      You're the 2nd person i've come across saying that sky have manually configured their line using a 3db noise margin.

      It wasn't the technical support team that did it, I can't remember the department, I think it was customer service or relations or something. She said "Hold on whilst I talk to a colleague" and then my line went dead, and came back up as 3dB
