      Extreme change in broadband 'ping'

      Hi all,

      Starting two days ago I noticed issues with my internet connection. As I regularly game online in the evening 10pm-1am it was instantly noticeable. Normal pings for me 40-75ms are now >500ms. I have also noticed a slight drop in my download speed. I unfortunately live in a Fibre area where my street is connected to an old cabinet that has not been upgraded. My neighbour over my back fence gets 60M+, I get barely 2M lol but that's another story.

      Tests from this evening.





      Nothing has changed hardware wise. Speeds are the same from home PC, laptop and mobile devices. I've changed the microfilter, plugged into the master socket and used my spare router.

      Anyone any ideas?

      Could you set up the Quality Monitor from the thinkbroadband site and see how things look with that please?

      Previous ADSL2+ Speed 19999 kbps 1153 kbps, Line Attenuation 17.5 db 6.9 db, Noise Margin 7.5 dB 8.7 dB

      I started the quality monitor as requested at 8pm this evening. I'll post up the results tomorrow. Thanks for the reply.

      It looks like your connection was busy a couple of times in the QM, but as you say, the worst appears to be over now.

      Leave the QM running to see if the problem returns. If you IP Address changes you'll nee to restart it though.
