Talking Wireless Problem on my Desktop PC

Guys & Gals I am hoping someone can shed some light on this problem that I am having as it is totally baffling me. I have three compters. 1 desktop and 2 laptops. The 2 laptops have built in wireless cards and when I go to www.speedtest.net I am getting a download off betwen 1500 - 2000 kb/s. However on my desktop when I do the same test I am getting between 400 - 800 kb/s. I have tried two different wireless cards. 1 in the PCI slot and 1 in the USB port but I get the same result. I then decided to hook up my desktop via an ethernet cable and run the test again and this time I got the result that my laptops have got. So what the heck is going on and how do I try and get better download speeds on my desktop PC. Sky told me to try these commands. I am not sure what they do but they had no effect.

      netsh interface ip reset resetlog.txp
      netsh winsock reset catalog

I am on the Connect Package. My exchange is Livingston Station.

      Hi Mark

Try in your router to change to AUTO108 wireless and retry desktop, also alledgedly turning UPnP off in the router as well

      Try and then post back

      Welcome to the site btw

      Hi There,
I had same problems and believe it or not after 3 weeks I moved my desktop to the other side of the room and speeds increased massively.[800kbps >>4000kbps avg]

If you place the latop in the same position as the desktop with cards facing same direction does the laptop speed reduce?

Know it sounds simple but it worked for me.

In the desktop I use to have a D Link card in the PCI slot but I took it back to PC World and said it was broken and now I have got the Netgear WG111GE USB adaptor.

Another more simpler question you might be able to answer is when will I be able to move from the Connect Package to one of the others. I think something happend to my exchange at the start of October but I dont really understand all the techy bits about it when I brought it up.
