      Dacs and fibre

I have been trying to sort out a bt connection f2s for my elderly next door neighbour and we got this message, so I put in my phone number and got the same message but I have ADSL max broadband, is this a general message or is our line playing slow due to this not have been removed? Thanks for any help

"Congratulations, BT report your local exchange (KINGS LANGLEY) is ADSL enabled, and your line (01923........) could have ADSL speeds of up to 6.00 Mb/s.

It appears there may be an incompatible product on your line (e.g. DACS or Fibre) - you'll need to ask BT to remove this before ADSL can be installed"

DACS is a way of BT to use one physical copper pair and have two phone lines on it. If this is the case then you are SOL unless BT can find a spare copper pair and de-DACS you. more info at http://frank.gwc.org.uk/~ali/dacs/

Ah thats ok, cause before Sky broadband we had a second line for dial up, but our 2nd phone line was deactivated, then unluckily our main number cable snapped and could not be repaired so we had the spare line re routed by BT, only one line is acive the spare line is disconnected by virtue of a broken cable between our house and the local exchange, so it probably makes no difference otherwise I guess Sky Broadband would not be working, thanks.
