      Download speed reduction

      Hi,
Went active yesterday and wanted to know if any one else has experienced the following.
Im on the SKY max package and have noticed that when I download a file from some where my speeds will start of at 1300 - 1500KB/s but after about 5min they will reduce to 500KB/s. If I open up an additional download the new connection will consume the remaining bandwith say 1000KB/s again for roughly 5min before degrading to 500 odd. Should I deduce from this that SKY are implementing some bandwith capping. My connection details are below if they can shed any light.

      System Up Time 21:19:46

Port Status TxPkts RxPkts Collisions Tx B/s Rx B/s Up Time
      WAN PPPoA 297383 442591 0 6143 325351 00:33:54
      LAN 10M/100M 3837681 2597711 0 16748 2243 21:19:44
      WLAN 54M 7861 27679 0 55 15 21:19:34

      ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 15323 kbps 766 kbps
Line Attenuation 22.0 db 11.3 db
Noise Margin 12.6 db 9.2 db

      Thanks

      I've noticed that.

Mine seems to start at 180kb & gradually drop & level off to 125kb.

At least part of the reason is that the likes of Internet Explorer start downloading into cache before you press the save button. Thus at first it looks like you have a very fast speed, as part of the file has been cached. In time the stated download speed goes back toward the actual realistic speed.
