Hi th e re, ye s I am havi ng sa me prob lems....

Seems the equipment at the exchange is not talking to the BT network if you ask me.

Look around this forum and there are loads of similar stories.

      TIME SKY GOT IT SORTED.

I have given them the benefit of the doubt over the last few weeks - but the situation is not getting better - if anything worse!!! I'm close to considering a move.

How much more of this are we expected to take, without a representative of SKY going public on National TV and explaining where they are at and what actions are being taken.

I thought WATCHDOG would have been on the case like "talktalk" by now.

      Regards,
      Ian.

To be fair to watchdog, The talk talk situation has been going on a bit longer and they have had more time to recticfy it!

I have been having these disconnections since the beginning but they are usually occur when I am not online, ie in the middle of the night, and when the do occur when I am online I am usually reconnected within a minute or two so I am not to bothered at this time.

I get around 4 'drops' per day.
Especially when I receive or make a phone call.

The max SNR I get is 10 db down and up.
Any suggestions on changing this setting ?

Connection drops when you use the phone point to a failed/faulty/missing or incorrectly fitted filter.

hey there people! im new to the site, the reason i signed up was because of this damn problem, since day one ive been disconnected randomly, ive rang at least 15 times and the "level 3" support have capped my speed to 8meg and it still disconects, ive also reported a fault with BT hoping that the error lies on the line and hopefully itll get rectified, but im using the microfilters sky supplied me with and it still disconnects!!! arghhhhhhhhh im also using the wired connection and not wireless, does anyone have any idea on what the problem could be!!!!!?!?

      many thanks

Open a second internet explorer session and go www.bbc.co.uk and click on different news stories, check to see if the speed of the stories has speeded up.

If 1458 has not worked that well, try 1440. You may have to try as far down as 1410 in the MTU size to get the best setting. Each time you change the MTU check the speed that the pages open up at.

You may initially need to restart your PC and switch the sky broadband box off. If you reset the router you will change the MTU size so I'd advise you just to switch the power off on the box".

Together these have sorted ALL my stability and page load speed issues. It's fast (I'm getting 10mbps without fail), stable and is also now there and ready to rock and roll as soon as I open my powerbook. Way to go Sarah and Stephen and the Sky Broadband support team.
saw this posted by Fredwestie! i tried it and well touch wood.... the internet seems more faster and stable.!!!!!!!!

Your post isn't clear. You're getting random disconnects or you're getting disconnects when someone phones you?

If the latter then describe your setup (what phones etc do you have, where are they plugged into, where are the filters).

If the former turn off UPnP and reboot both router and PC.

If that doesn't help then post your router stats. The key figures are downstream connection speed, attenuation and noise margin.

Is there any pattern to your disconnections (certain times of day, regularity etc.)?

MTU shouldn't have any effect on disconnections. It simply sets the packet size.

      true.

your mtu does have a good lot to do with your connection and disconects but their might be other factors.,

      but just glad your happy.

      well done.
