Why the new test my internet is a mess now

I have been running fairly stable over the last few months as a steady sort of 12mb download and suddenl after the longest period of steady decent internet my connection has infuriatingly been dropping in and out constantly and even when on keeps crashing web pages.
When I check my sky I see there was a test started on 9th October, WHY ON EARTH start a test when the connection has had no issues and I have made no complaints
This is what it is currently sitting at but the WAN is rarely up for more than 30 minutes,

WHY MESS ABOUT WHEN IT AIN'T BROKE SKY, this keeps happening, stable for a few months then this mess. I am seriously now considering switching as I never had this problem once with 10 years of BT.

Re: Why the new test my internet is a mess now

Sky have improved the DLM software, which constantly monitors everyone's ADSL line.

If you have the router in your profile then you sadly won'y be getting the best from the new DLM software, but it has still been improved.

As a direct result though, many people are now getting far better connection speeds, with several on the forum who are getting nearly 24mbps. The upload speed has also been improved.

However, all these improvements have not changed your physical telephone cable. If this is not able to support the new speeds, then it should throttle back the connection speed until you have a more stable line.

As for the router, Sky should be updating them all in due course I believe, but currently the Sagem 2540N, Sky Hub SR101 and Sky Hub SR102 all support the new features better.

Sky want to give you the best speed possible, nothing much wrong with that. I notice that your system uptime is very low. Have you been rebooting the router? If so you shouldn't as it will mess up DLM. If you are really unhappy with having possibly a 50%+ increase in your speed, call Sky and ask them to suspend DLM and configure your line manually.

Is there anything showing in your router log file?

Re: Why the new test my internet is a mess now

Thanks for the replies, and yes I dont mind sky doing their thing. But the router was powered down as it completely froze, I wouldn't mind but I wasn't aware of it happening, so the first thing I did was reset the router a couple of times when it froze, anyway log below.

Re: Why the new test my internet is a mess now

It looks like you have been subject to a lot of kernel intrusions, this could possibly cause the router to freeze. If you have it enabled, turn of Respond to Ping on the WAN port in the WAN setup. This may help to reduce the number of connection attempts you are experiencing.
