You would not be able to download many files with a 40mb limit.

Years ago, when I first joined Sky it was on Connect and to be honest it was quite a good package, with a reasonable download limit which was not always applied and a fairly consistent speed, better than I had with Plusnet at the time. Since then it has taken a nose dive and would probably rate as the worst ADSL package available. I am pretty sure that it drags Sky's overall rating down by quite a few percentage points.

That and 40GB is nothing these days

The GTA5 download off the PSN was 18GB or so

Re: Sky Connect - indecent connection speed

Sky Broadband Connect was launched quite a few years ago. Whilst the conditions were improved last year, it is still not very good.

Since it was first launched providers such as PlusNet are now able to offer a better service. At the time though it was very much on par with other products which were available from other ISPs.

Sky Fibre Unlimited Pro: Connected at 80,000 kbps / 20,000 kbps
Previous ADSL2+ Speed 19999 kbps 1153 kbps, Line Attenuation 17.5 db 6.9 db, Noise Margin 7.5 dB 8.7 dB
      Speedtest: 17.15MB/s 0.97Mb/s Ping 31 ms

21CN did a lot of the interconnect costs, given what a 622Mbit/s BT central used to cost it was no surprise ISP's had to traffic shape at peak time.
BTW bandwidth is still expensive but no where near what it used to cost.

Re: Sky Connect - indecent connection speed

Thank you all for the time taken to help me sorting this out.
I'm sorry for choosing a wrong topic title, I thought I was on Connect during the first days of my troubleshooting, please mod feel free to correct the topic title.

I am still performing speed tests and hopefully I can collect some results to help fix the issue.
      Thanks all

Don't worry too much, you are not the first to think that you were still on Connect.

How are you getting on with the speed testing?

Re: Sky Connect - indecent connection speed

I've been running quite a few tests during weekend and collecting data. I have to admit that connection was running at normal speed so I would prefer to wait for some network congestion and relative test result.

      I'll keep you posted,

      Cheers

Re: Sky Connect - indecent connection speed

      That is good to hear.

We have chased up about the app and are waiting to find out what is happening. If we have confirmation of an issue we can ask for information about what the plans are to get it fixed.

From the discussion we have seen, Sky's network team are a lot more on top of things than they were a couple of years back. Then it took 4-5 months to get an issue resolved. The latest one took less than a month to after people started complaining on the forums.

I've no idea how up to date it is though.

The op's postcode is coming up with 'exchange unaffected', as are a handful of postcodes i tried for the 9 exchanges listed here.
Mind you, those 9 were only announced at 10pm last night & being outages, may already have been fixed.
