    new adsl connection

    This is a discussion on new adsl connection within the Sky Broadband help forums, part of the Sky Broadband help and support category; All working came on this morning about 9am so must have been their end 4meg so far don't expect more ...

      All working came on this morning about 9am so must have been their end
      4meg so far don't expect more than 8meg with my line attenuation of 50db

      Probably about 5.5 Mbit/s with a 6db SNRM, might be higher if it allows a 3db noise margin or enables the new G.INP

      Internet connect dropping again connects for 10seconds then drops again I noticed the downstream noise margin starts at 6db rises to 18db then drops to -4.-5db and connection is lost ????

      Ouch, Hope that's not REIN then

      Did you turn anything on recently, like a powersupply for something or heating/aircon/boiler.etc

      Did Sky/BT come back with anything when asked to test the line?

      Large flutations in SNR do make me suspect there might be possible REIN but it's to early to tell for sure, could just be duff exchange equipment or a line fault.

      ::. Kitz - REIN .:: - REIN is notoriously difficult to track down and even if the source is identified it may or may not be possible to fix it.

      I am waiting on cst to phone me on tues lost connection again back to same symptoms I noticed my line attenuation was 50db at first then this morning it was 47.5db

      Update cst phoned and said loads of errors on line openreach engineer will be out morning of 8th to diagnose fault

      update engineer has been and gone possible cause for problem REIN from the communal sat dish on the roof others residents are also complaining of the same problem i have heard that it has been raised with a SFI engineer i phoned sky cst to make sure my issue was raised also i know there is a local factor for the flats would they be the best port of call for the dish issue

      possible satellite amplifier problem which is causing the REIN ???

      any advice on what i should do next ???

      Contact whoever is responsible for maintaining the communal sat System, I guess it will be your building management company.
