      Angry BT Product Incompatibility?

      It just had to happen...

Moved into a new house with existing BT line. Rang BT and entered into new landline contract.

Ordered Sky Broadband. Got letter with username and password. Router 'on the way'.

Got a letter from Sky - 'there is a problem with your order - please call.'

Rang Sky Provisioning. "Your order was rejected by BT as your line failed the their product compatibility test. We've had to cancel your order but we'll place your order again now."

Rang Sky a few days later, to see if all was well. "Your order was rejected again by BT as your line...."

Rang BT. Reported fault. BT say no fault.
Rang BT BB Wholesale Help. They say there may be an old ADSL marker on the line. That's impossible, I say - the previous occupant was a lady in her late 80's who had been here since 1946!

Rang Sky Provisioning. They say that there is an ADSL marker on the line and it's a...... Sky marker, left on when they placed the first order!! Apparently the person who cancelled the first order didn't do it properly.

Now, Provisioning have to email a different department to get a 'Cease' marker put on the line. Only then can the order be placed again. Probably in about 7 days time.

God give me strength. I've come from several years with NTL BB - they look quite pro compared to Sky and they were rubbish!

Has anybody had the same experience?

I had one of them - according to the letter they had tried to contact me by phone which was a blatant lie as my phone records every incoming call date/time/number and there were none during the period that weren't from known sources. So I had to phone them back on their extortionate premium rate number to sort out THEIR cockup

BEWARE If you are being charged an activation fee you will be charged for every order. Despite what they say they haven't refunded the previous charges.

After a lot of time on their extortionate premium rate number they eventually credited my Sky account with 49 (rather than refund my credit card 40 ) Whatever

I'll certainly be keeping a close eye on my bank account to ensure this has really happened when the next DD payment is taken.

Sky Connect still working well today

I found the freephone number above by using the search button at the top of the screen and searching Freephone threads.

So now I've got another letter telling me the 'Broadband Box' is on it's way and telling me my Username (same as on the first letter). It also tells me to change my password to something memorable - except this letter doesn't have a Password on it. Hopefully it will be the same password as on the 1st letter.... I have a bad feeling about this.....

      @nickw

I'd get in touch with them if I were you. My first order was cocked up due to my MAC code not being noted first time round, and so I had paid the 40 at the initial order.

I put the problem right, and re-submitted my order. I was repaid the first 40 though, unlike you were.

Hmmm.... mine was also a MAC problem (they typed it in wrong). I wonder how often this happens.

I've since received a letter stating my new DD payment amounts, and the next one due is indeed 49 less than it should be, so it looks like they did do what they said, but I'll certainly be keeping an eye on it.
