      Sky Connect massive improvement recently

Hello, I'm new here! This is hopefully my first post, though it's not the first attempt - the appalling connection has meant that all previous attempts at posting have failed.

Anyway, I've apparently been on Sky Connect since 6th Oct, though nobody told me and I hadn't received the router. After what seems like hours on hold to Sky, things were sorted out and I got properly connected on 11 Oct.
Compared with my Pipex 1Mb service I transferred from, the connection was utterly diabolical. In the evenings it was worse than dial-up.

      HOWEVER!!

The last 2 or 3 days it's actually been working pretty well.

My router is reporting a connect speed of 3136kbps. I'm not unduly concerned by this, as I'm a fair distance from the exchange. But it does make me wonder whether when Sky get to my exchange, will my speeds be any better? Is there any point in going for Max rather than Mid?

Anyway, I hope this improvement isn't just a "temporary glitch"

I am on Connect and last Sunday it was slow all day but after that it was back to normal speed including in the evenings when it had previously been very slow. I have no idea what they did but I am now in the happy camp with my service.

      yes to that

got BB on Connect package in the beginning of Oct. Had nothing but slow speed for 2 weeks (only between 6pm till midnight) spoke to sky tier1/2/3 gave the usual kraphnical talk......but since last monday speeds in the evening are about 4mB and even faster after midnight. it took 14days for speed to reach from 30kbps to 400kbps, BitT is fast, microsoft downloads, FTP etc..........so to those who are getting speeds slower than dial-up - then please wait for a couple of weeks from your initial connection date, this has been discussed already. i would not suggest you to tweek anything if you was with an ISP e.g pipex 2mb and was constantly getting good speeds all hours of the day, its not the hardware/pc/telephone port etc... simple if your speed is fast during the day but slow in the evenings then its nothing to do with your equipment...

I have to agree, I'm on connect and have noticed my speeds remianing failry constant at all times now. Hopefully it will stay this way. I'm now more than happy with my 2meg connection due to my line length.

I wouldn't go for max as you will most probably be paying for a speed that you won't achieve.

I'm on max 16mb and getting about 2.7mb from www.speedtest.net. I don;t mind too much though as I used to pay 14 for a 0.5mb connection, so 10 for 3mb is OK with me, but I wish I would have choosen mid, and I will be speaking to sky customer services to try to get my package reduced....
