I am finnaly connected after weeks of waiting, ftp http downloads speeds are good, but newsgroup download speeds are capped , with my Telewest connection i get my full 10mbit speed so its not the newsgroup provider, but with sky bb its betweem 150kb/sec to 210 kb/sec max, I guess cap newsgroup downloads? : .

I've tried both Euro and USA server and get exactly the same speed which is why i think there could be some traffic shapiing going on.

Strange. I've seen no evidence of traffic shaping, port throttling or the like.

I can comfortably max out my connection (~10meg) with Astraweb for usenet and have seen torrents not far from that using utorrent with unencrypted traffic.

Either there is some form of bandwidth control in place but for some reason it doesn't apply to me (unlikely) or you guys have something else happening with your connections (seems more likely to me).

Are you on Connect? As this uses BT's network maybe the restrictions are happening there?

I think there is traffic shaping in place, in the morning and afternoon I could download at full speed, but when I tested just now the speeds are dropping lower..
