I use easynews for newgroup access and Download Accelerator as my download manager. Downloads dont seem to be capped but seems as though after about 20min of downloading a particular file the speed will drop from 1600 KB/s to around 500. If I begin an aditional download it will again take up all bandwith for rouglyh 20min before trailing off. Any one else in the same boat?

do any of these newsgroup programmes have a bandwidth priority setting ? coz if they have then they normally set low as default so when you use your internet it will allow IE for example to have priority on the bandwidth then seem to be slow on the newsgroups
if any of that makes sence lol

How do you change the port no from 119? I have tried by typing in a new no. i.e 80 from within the software(agent and newsbin) but then I couldnt connect at all. Or do you need to change settings within the router ?
Any help would be appreciated
Also, what port no's can be used ?

Lampit in responce to yourr question: I use NewBin as my Newsreader and to change the port click on the server tab and then right click the Connection and chose properties. From there you can just type in a new port to use.
You can just type in any old port number, first check with your news provider and see what ports they use and just work your way through them.
I used to use port 119 and was getting very low speed of about 100K just changed the port and BLAM! my speeds have shot up to 2.0Mb!!!!! so I am now a very happy person.

Agreed the server settings are where you have to change ports, SSL etc
I use newsleecher and newsbin and I max out my connection 1.56MB/s and I use port 119Ray
Some Advice.. Its always advisable to inform your old ISP as soon as you have migrated that you have moved.
If you would like to know the straight line distance to your exchange then
Would you like an idea of the possible speeds you will get with the Max Package then click here or for the Connect Package then click here
