I guess you get what you pay for, other than that it seems quite good so far, only if i could get them to put me on fastpath! Dont seem to be able to be put through to Tier 3 support!

My Usenet access seems to be caped at around 50kbs - 70Kbs it was running at nice speeds before migration.
Http d/l's are just fine getting 6-700 Kbs from Fileplanet

What news readers are you guys using ?
I tried Newsbin, Agent and another one thats slips my mind and they all showed the same problem.
AS a last ditch effort I read people saying good things about Newsleacher and after installing that everything is now working fine and the majority of yesterday I was able to max out my connections.
Hope this helps.

I use Grabit, connected to both Grabbit's own newswervers and Astraweb and even running full connections on both together I was lucky to hit 110Kbs.
I will try my old router just to check that it is not the Sky router, but my PC hasnt changed only my ISP!
I dont use Usenet much but tis frustrating I cannot get decent speeds when I do.I have sold my sold soul and joined SkyBroadband

I get full speed connections to Astraweb, hitting about 1.28Mb/s right now. Have you tried using a different port number? I use Newsleecher connected to port 8080. It's usually keeps a very constant speed which caps out my connection, except between around 19:30 to 21:30 in the evenings, when I'm asuming most people do a lot of web browsing after work.Kansalis

I have come to the conclusion that Sky are capping port 119, well for my account anyway!
I have tried 2 readers Newsleecher and Grabit, 3 News hosts Shemes, Astraweb and Giganews. I have also tried 2 pc's and another router and all were lucky to see 100Kbs at best but average was 60-70Kbs.
I changed Newsleecher to port 80 with Giganews and bang hit speeds of 400-500+Kbs, return to 119 and the speed is back to the rubbish it was before.
I have eliminated my end only 1 conclusion to drawI have sold my sold soul and joined SkyBroadband
