      Internet working intermittently

Hi, we live in Harrow Middx and have a d-link router which yesterday decided not to connect to the internet. Phoned Sky went through all the usual with no luck said we needed a call from technical. This morning all ok. Question is, is it a router problem or BT line problem? Do routers get tired (?), worn out? I know this is a stupid question but other members seem to think that they wear out.

      Re: Internet working intermittently

Routers do wear out, but if you are getting intermittent disconnections the first suspect is the line. To rule out internal problems can you post your stats from your normal position and then from the Test socket using only the ADSL cable supplied by Sky.

Sky suggest changing the microfilters as we haven't changed them since installation in 2006! I'll try that first and see how it goes, thanks.

That is the standard response, or fob off, depending on how you look at it. We cannot help unless you post your stats as requested.
