      Broadband Speed - new user

      Hi

My broadband unlimited package went live 5 wees ago. Line testing lasted about 6 days. I've included the router stats below. Sky suggested speeds of 9.2-16 Mb, and in fairness the speed I'm being supplied is not far short of their advised minimum. From postings I've seen on here my suspicion is that it could be higher. I haven't spoken to Sky yet as I would value the views of the impartial experts on here before I do.

Thanks in anticipation for any information you may be able to provide.

      Steve

First reboot your router, by switching off the power for a couple of minutes then switch on again. If your speed does not rise, plug into your Test socket, using only the ADSL cable supplied by Sky and post your stats from there. How to test your ADSL in the Master Test Socket

Thanks for the advice, I've carried out the reboot as suggested, there's no real difference (results below). I'll carry out the test via the master socket and post later in the week. Thanks again for the suggestion.

Re: Broadband Speed - new user

I think you're good for a few more Mbits, however unless your line has very little noise, I doubt you'll get near to the 16Mb. If the speed increases when you use the test socket (by removing the faceplate of the master socket), then I'd suggest investing in a vDSL faceplate. You could then get Sky to re-run DLM and hopefully watch your speed go up!
