What is the Sky Broadband Router CD used for?

Now each router comes with it's own CD. Are these preconfigured to your Sky account, or are these simply generic driver CDs? If not, what exactly is their purpose?

They are quite handy for stopping drinks from marking your computer desk.

Re: What is the Sky Broadband Router CD used for?

They are quite generic and unless they have changed recently, Sky stopped sending with the Sky Hub SR101.

There is some video content on them, showing you how to install the router and also a recovery tool. The recovery tool can be downloaded from the Sky website instead.

As for drivers, forget that. They only drivers you need are for your own computer, mobile, tablet, or any other device, for their respective LAN or WiFi adaptor. This should already be installed. If not, you will need to check somewhere more relevant for your device.

Thanks for the info. So I guess there isn't anything at all important.

If you need help setting up the router, then it will be of use. Not everyone will find that task alone easy.

The new router's packaging and manual make things a lot easier.

It's worth keeping hold of it for the recovery tool. If you've messed up/lost internet access and need to recover, you won't be able to download it from the 'net!

Re: What is the Sky Broadband Router CD used for?

Yes it is. Alternatively you can download it from the Sky website now and store it on your PC.

If it helps, it is rare that anyone would need to use the recovery tool and there is no CD supplied with the Sky Hub SR101.
