      Limited Connection

I have my Mac set up with ethernet and my laptop with wireless, a few times I have noticed I have lost connection and when I look at network connection it says 'limited connection'?

I don't have the SSID showing in the router settings, the only box clicked is wireless, if the internet has gone down, then why does my Mac still have internet connection?

I got back into my router and renamed the connection and changed the password in set up, I did this using the Mac, and now I have got internet back on my laptop

Any theories or explanations would be gratefully appreciated.

      Thanks

Obviously the internet has not gone down. You have simply lost the connection to the router with your laptop. This is fairly common with wireless connections. Make sure you are using the best channel on the router by downloading and using Inssider, link below. Check at different times as not all wireless networks are on 24/7.

      Re: Limited Connection

In case you should ever fear that someone is accessing your Internet connection again, simply log into the router and find the page that lists the connected devices.

You should be able to determine what each one list is. If you find something which you cannot account for, then change the SSID and WiFi password. That should delay them from accessing your router again. Also DO change the router's password too. The default for all of Sky's routers is the same and is easily found on the Internet.
