      Exclamation Internet Disconnects for 3-5 Minutes every time the phone is used.

      Hi,

      We've been having this problem with our internet for YEARS now, I'm not sure whether it is a fault with sky or what I believe it to be, some problem with the way we set up the phone system.

      Important details:
      Wireless phones
      Two hubs for each phone, one connected to each filter, one upstairs, one downstairs.
      The internet itself does not disconnect - the signal output from the router is still there, but no-one is allowed access for 3-5 mins. This is shown by a yellow triangle containing an exclamation mark, covering the usual 5 bar signal logo.


      The reason why this frustrates me so much Is that I am a highy competetive League of Legends player, a game where being absent for more than 30 seconds can severely distort the current gameplay and cause you to lose the game. This lets down the 4 other people I am matched to play with, whilst at the same time ruining my ranking.

      Does anyone know any possible causes of the disconnection? Along with any potential fixes for it?

      Any help is greatly appreciated, we've left this unsolved for far too long and it's time to do something about it.

      With only one or other of the two phone base stations connected to the phone line do you still get the same problem?

      Have you tried running a device by hardwiring it into the router, this will rule out the wireless interference if it continues.

      Is the phone base unit near the router? Try moving it away from it.

      It may well be a Line problem, Poor connection somewhere outside your house. When your line is not being used other than your BB there should be about 50v DC on your line but when the phone rings there will be a higher AC voltage to ring the phone, This can cause frequency distortion at a bad connection and your BB will reset.

      Maybe worth an open reach visit, Try a quiet line test. If you hear the faintest crackle or strange sound that may well be the cause.

      If the internet is not disconnecting it has nothing to do with the line, it is a wireless interference problem. You should download and install Inssider, link below, and use it to determine the quietest least used channel in your area. Channel 13 is often little used, but can suffer interference from 11 and 12.

      As a keen gamer you would be better using an ethernet connection, with the use of homeplugs if necessary.
