When the faceplate is removed are all the other sockets in your house without a dial tone and dead? If so you have a fault on your external line. Any noise on the voice side of the line?

Unless there is noise on your line you may have problems getting Sky to do anything. What was the speed estimate for your line when you first joined? What speed is shown in the broadband details on your MySky page?

Re: Download speed dropping to 453kbs

Try calling your own home number from a mobile phone. If it doesn't work, then you have a line fault.

What may be the case is that one of the two copper cables has become broken. ADSL can work at reduced speeds on a single line, but needs the 2nd part.

When calling BT, do not mention the broadband. They will try and pass the buck over to your ISP (i.e. Sky).

Sky Fibre Unlimited Pro: Connected at 80,000 kbps / 20,000 kbps
Previous ADSL2+ Speed 19999 kbps 1153 kbps, Line Attenuation 17.5 db 6.9 db, Noise Margin 7.5 dB 8.7 dB
      Speedtest: 17.15MB/s 0.97Mb/s Ping 31 ms

Re: Download speed dropping to 453kbs

The first thing to do is check your phone for a dial tone. If you have none get on to BT right away, if they are your phone rental provider. If you do have a dial tone, do as Scubbie suggests and try your number from a different line. You should also try another phone handset just in case your handset is faulty.
