Its the firmware!!! Its doing to me as well :/

Its really funny how when there new sky hub went up to 62 all of a sudden loads of people in a short time frame started having issues. when the new firmware came out and people with the new sky hub don't have the issues. its like they want us to buy it :/

I am not happy not going to bother phoning what difference will it make try this try that. can't be bothered with it all. Not fixed few weeks were leaving sky and looking on their forums/facebook/twitter lots of others will do the same.

Re: Firmware 6.14.2a4N_UNI causing ADSL drop outs?

Hi we've just started experiencing full wireless drop outs every 30-60 minutes. Sometimes it won't disconnect us fully from wireless but instead the strength drops to about 7Mbps from 144Mbps. The Router doesn't always reset but sits in some sort of Limbo giving us no connection until its turned off and on again. We've not received a phone call telling us we are due for an update. But by looking on the router settings it's already updated to 6.14.2a4N_UNI

I've tried a hard reset with no luck

There are a host of possible explanations for the WiFi having problems. Without listing them all I would look first to see if someone was using a microwave oven or a DECT phone that uses the 2.4GHz range.

Also, to confirm whether or not the router had an issue, could you post your router's connection stats, including all the uptimes please?

Re: Firmware 6.14.2a4N_UNI causing ADSL drop outs?

I have a feeling that I'm also suffering from this issue as I've had plenty of disconnections over the last week and the only conclusion I can come to thus far from tests I've done myself is that this is since the firmware upgrade on my hub.

Up until the last week or so, my connection has been perfect, very rarely dropping out, however over the last week, I have been getting literally loads of ADSL connection drops each day (can't keep a tally on how many as the router log is not saved and I'm in work all day), but as an example, a look at my logs tonight suggest at least 6 droupouts in the last 2 hours. It's got to the point where I can't do anything on the PC as I'll lose the connection all the time...

No microwave is near it. However we do have our Wireless phone dock sitting next to it. Might be the problem?

Re: Firmware 6.14.2a4N_UNI causing ADSL drop outs?

Thank you for posting those. If you can try to leave the router connected and not disconnect the power again. I wanted to see if one of the connections had dropped.

Also it would be useful to see a copy of the router's logs next time you get a problem. If when posting these you could click the 'Go Advanced' button on this forum and then use the 'php Code' button, it would help to keep the post tidy. Do edit out your IP Address when posting the logs.

Some people have reported issues with DECT phones being plugged in next to their router. This could be because of the signal or the PSU. Could you check the specs for the phone to see what frequency it works at please? If it isn't clear in the manual, often you can find this information on the manufacturer's website.

There are many other possible causes. Central heating systems have been known to cause a problem before. Essentially if you have an electrical device which is playing up, that could be a cause.

Re: Firmware 6.14.2a4N_UNI causing ADSL drop outs?

I've shifted the DECT phone away. It's only a cheapy one so it's not got info about it on the phone. It's this one

The issue happened just now, however the router didn't reset. It went into it's Limbo state again. Not allowing any connection. Trying to connect boots me off. So I can't retrieve a Stats Page...

Re: Firmware 6.14.2a4N_UNI causing ADSL drop outs?

I would have expected the logs to show the router's connect to the time server, but I can't remember if it does on the Sagem 2504N. It does on the Sky Hub, but I don't think it does with the Sagem 2304 I have.

I can't find the technical information on the phone to confirm the frequency it works at. I wonder if a friendly call to Tesco's Customer Services would provide this information.

Hmm okay. Well I've moved the Phone away from the Router. I've positioned the Router really high up on a bookcase. I'll leave it a few days and return the results! Thanks for the help! -J

Re: Firmware 6.14.2a4N_UNI causing ADSL drop outs?

I'm using the hacked version of this firmware 6.14.2a4N_UNI and it's pretty good. I get the odd disconnection (about 1 a week) and get the grumble from the Sky HD + box every now and again about getting an IP. But it's lowered my line attenuation by 1db and I'm getting the full speed that DLM set, so I'm happy with that.
