Probably appears a bit slow compared to your VM. It may improve slightly over the next few days but as it is only interim until you get fibre hopefully it will be fast enough to provide the services you require over the holiday season.

First ten days is a training period so leave your router switched on. Speed may vary but from your downstream snr margin I would not expect a large improvement. Do you know how far you are from your telephone exchange?

You are approximately 2.04km from the exchange. Note that this is the straight line distance - the actual cable length will be longer!

      Re: Good Connection or Bad?

Using the tool available on this site ( SkyUser - Potential ADSL2 Line Speed Checker & Calculator ) your estimated speed for ADSL will be 6-7mb.

This speed cannot be directly compared to what you could expect from Sky Fibre though. ADSL is dependent on the distance and line quality between your home and the telephone exchange. FTTC, which is what Sky uses, speeds are reliant on the distance & line quality between your home and the cabinet to which you are connected.

As seawright has stated, there is a training period for ADSL. It normally starts about 3 days after the installation and will last for anything up to 10 days, but on some occasions it will last longer. This is known as DLM.

During all this time it is advisable to refrain from power cycling the Sky router too often as this can be interpreted as a line fault.

Sky Fibre Unlimited Pro: Connected at 80,000 kbps / 20,000 kbps
Previous ADSL2+ Speed 19999 kbps 1153 kbps, Line Attenuation 17.5 db 6.9 db, Noise Margin 7.5 dB 8.7 dB

      No problem.

Personally I would love to get Fibre too, the improved upload speed would be beneficial to me. Still waiting for BTO to install a cabinet near me and to enable my exchange though. Personally I don't see everything happening until February/March at the earliest now, but this cold be extended.

I've always lived in a cable and and had cable for over 12 years... Not had a speed like 4mb since around 8 years? LoLol when I first turned on the sky hub it kept rebooting but sorted itself out.

Have a few steam updates an ps3 and smart tv updates but ill get used to it for now until fibre can be installed let's hope installtion isn't to long!

Just think Scubbie if you were living in a cabled street things could have been very different by now you might have been a moderator on the unofficial Virgin Media forum.
