Replacing sky router with a BT homehub

My friends router seems to have died (no lights at all) and the only alternative until after Christmas is his old homehub. Is there any chance of this working? If so any advice on how to do it?

You'd need to get the username and password from the router. Which one is it?

He has had 2. My old sky one which I think was a Netgear V1 DG834GT and the last one he used I'm not really sure about. All I know is its silver and he got it about 1-2 years ago. I will try and find out the name.

After looking at images on Google I think it is a Sagemcom 2504N. Pic below.

Re: Replacing sky router with a BT homehub

The BT Homehubs are effectively "locked" to BT lines. In order to use one you would need to tinker with the firmware a bit in order to make them useable on another ISP's line. I used to use a Homehub 2 on my Zen broadband connection, and it was a fairly involved procedure that you had to follow in order to unlock it. That said though, it was a fairly decent router once I had it up and running.

If you want to go down that route, I would suggest having a read over here:
