Broadband has been dropping out since June, maybe longer. Help!

I've had Sky BB since January this year and didn't have any problems up until around June. If I was browsing the internet on a laptop or PC I would be randomly presented with a sky router page with the message "The router failed to detect a broadband connection."

This would happen any time of day but it seems to be worse at night, it has only appeared again last night after stopping at the beginning of November and it's starting to get a little irritating.

It can do it up to 20-25 times an hour on a bad day and I can't for the life of me work out why it's been happening. I have replaced the face plate, filter and cable to the router, I've also plugged it into the test socket which didn't make any difference. The socket used is the only one in the house and it only has about 2ft of wire before it goes through the wall, up the front of the house and across the telephone wire so I'm assuming the problem isn't inside the house.

Oh and it happens on both wireless and LAN, forgot to mention.

Any help would be appreciated, I'll post some stats from the router, if I've missed any that are useful let me know, thanks.

Line should be performing better than that, the SNR is low and speed isn't what I was expecting for your line attenuation. 29db line should achieve 16000kbps (16Mbps)

You might have a line fault, the SNR being low is causing disconnections and speed being low shows your line is not performing as well as it should.

Thanks for the info, as my contract is up in January I'm going to avoid messing with and potentially paying for an engineer to sort it and move over to fiber optic.
