Mcafee says my free trial expired

I migrated from O2 to Sky Fibre 2 weeks ago, I tried getting the trial of Mcafee but it tells me "Our records show that you have already activated this service and used your free trial period. Your McAfee subscription will continue automatically for 3.00 per month" what gives ?
I had Mcafee with O2 for several years, Ok I know its not the best, but its free, so I want it, Is it because I registered with Sky with My O2 email ? I have since changed it to Gmail a/c and tried Mcafee with my Gmail not O2 email.
      Any ideas ? Thanks
I posted on the Sky forums, but cant find my post now.

Your McAfee subscription will continue automatically for
3.00 per month" what gives ?
This means they will add 3 a month on to your subscription. You should sort this out asap.

This is what it says on the Sky site -
We've teamed up with McAfee to offer Sky Broadband customers a free trial of McAfee Security - 12 months free Internet Security Suite for up to three PCs with Sky Broadband Unlimited or 3 months free trial with all other Sky Broadband products - and then just 3 per month after the free trial.
So it looks like they only offer 3 months to Fibre customers.

Barge pole and McAfee are often mentioned in the same sentence.

Re: Mcafee says my free trial expired

I think the 3 months to all other is for the lower graded BB products not Fibre, I will see if I get a reply on Sky forums, Q&A section, but I cant even find my Q now, lol
I didnt sign up to Mcafee yet so they shouldnt be charging me...yet, There are plenty of free ones anyway Malwarebytes being one, so its not a problem.
      Thanks

Just taking a look at the Sky forums, there are a few recent posts. Could this be yours?:

Sky Help Forum - mcafee says im already registered - Help & Support from the Official Sky Forum

The answer provided suggests that you should download it from the Sky website, not from your disc. However the Sky Hub SR101 doesn't come with a disc, or at least mine didn't.

If you navigate to the Sky website, log into your 'My Sky' account, there should be a link there to download McAfee. I don't have the McAfee package so I can't verify where the link is.

MalwareBytes is not an AV & firewall package, but is an excellent Anti-Malware package.

If you want to get a good AV program, search around, but the are many available for under 25 with licenses for 3 computers.

If you really like McAfee, have a look here, its 18.97 for 12 months, a lot cheaper than Sky. You can also get an update for about 12 if you have a current version.

Yes its another case of Sky's very poor terminology.

For free solutions I use Avast anti-virus & Comodo firewall as a combo on 1 PC and zonealarm on the other.

Both seem to work well , probably the Avast/Comodo being the better.

AV has nothing to do with ports. What you are seeing on Shieldsup is the response from your router, it will not even see your PC. To get a check on your PC, you have to put it into the DMZ of the router so that it bypasses the firewall.
