I'm assuming you are using a Sky+ box to record. If you cancel then the record/playback function will be disabled so you can't view anything you recorded.

You could copy the programs to a DVD/HDD recorder, or to your PC using a capture device.

Some have reported that the Sky+ functions continue to work after the subscription is cancelled, but it shouldn't do, so don't rely on it happening to you.

Re: Recorded programs (just normal telly)

Personally I'd copy anything I wanted to keep (via SCART) on to another recorder before I cancelled.

You need a valid Sky Viewing Card to watch anything on the Sky box HDD if it was originally necessary to have a card to receive the programme. The reason is Sky record the programme in it's fully protected state and only when you play it back is it decrypted using the Viewing Card.

So you would need a fully functioning Sky box and an active Sky account.
