      WEP Change

      Hello People,

I've just realised I have a device which only supports WEP, and so I decided to change the router settings. I entered 192.168.0.1. Then entered admin as the user, and sky as the password.

If I change the connection to no protection, all my windows machines can access the connection. BUT... If I set it to WEP, none of my windows machines can connect. It never asks me for my password when I attempt to connect. It acts as though it's trying to connect without providing a password, and so it fails.

To change to WEP, I select the WEP check box. Then I enter a passphrase and click apply. Then I write down the WEP-key and click apply.

      Can anybody help?

      Thanks :-)

Just a suggestion, but when you change the security to WEP also try changing the name of the wireless network (SSID) which is at the top of the same page.

Hopefully a new network name will force your wireless devices to prompt for the WEP key for effectivley the "new" network.
