It might be the wiring between your property and the exchange. Either the quality (using aluminium wire), or electrical interference. You could also ask your neighbours what speeds they are getting and see if it compares.

As you are well below Sky's estimate, tell them you want to leave. That may encourage them to look a bit deeper into the problem.

Hi isitme, I have stated to them I am not happy with the speed which they have accepted if the engineer is unable to fix the problem then I shall be telling them I want to leave. I am giving them as much time as possible to fix the issue so its just a case of wait and see what happens at the weekend

That just confirms what your stats indicate. Unfortunately you are unlikely to do any better on ADSL with any other ISP. Fibre or Cable is your only chance of getting more speed.

Yes the BTO engineer confirmed I won't get any better speed and he said the best thing to do was to contact Sky which I did and cancelled the Broadband with-out charge as it’s within the 3 month period and they can't argue as its set by OFCOM

As Fibre isn't in this area I have returned to Virgin Media for the broadband and will be getting connected on Thursday
